Homemade Burgers

Here is my recipe for delicious homemade Burgers made from a few simple ingredients. I often make them with Turkey mince for a slightly healthier alternative. They're really easy to make and can be adapted to your tastes with whatever flavours you fancy. You can be as adventurous as you like.

Ingredients
  • 500g Minced Beef or Turkey
  • 1x Teaspoon whole Fennel Seeds
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix the Mince with the Fennel with a generous sprinkle of Salt and Pepper.
  2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly by hand and work the mixture, almost like kneading, so that it starts to together into a ball
  3. Divide into 4 and shape into Burgersand rub with a light coating of Vegetable oil.
  4. Preheat a large frying pan (or griddle) on a medium to high heat
  5. Add your Burgers to the pan. They should sizzle immediately. Don't be tempted to move them around allow them to cook and for a slight crust on the outside. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Turn the the burgers over and cook for another 3-4 minutes. If you're making Turkey burgers they will take slightly longer to cook (allow an extra minute on each side).
  7. Now the Burgers are cooked remove from the heat and allow to rest while you prepare the bread bun.
Results

I like to serve the Burgers in bun with shredded lettuce, ketchup and mayonnaise but it's up to you. Here is the finished article served in one of my homemade Bread buns.

Have a play with the recipe and let me know of any interesting variations you try.
